It is an amazing piece and seems like it would have been exhausting to research and put together, much less to organize and design for the web. It looks a labor of love and honor. Family tales report that my father, Thomas Edmund Comerford, was a Black Irishman and ex communicated and kicked out of Ireland. Beyond that, not much came down. One tale told that the family name was actually Comers and an ancestor ran a ferry, then called a ford, and that is how the name became Comerford. I wonder if you have any information about Sister Mary Xavier Daly who went to San Francisco with your ancestor Theresa Comerford and founded the Presentation Convent there in the 1850s. I am descended from a niece of Sister Xavier Daly and would love to find any additional information about her and/or photos of her. Thank you so much in advance.<br /Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08742964062952598314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6243571335120465594.post-47606870218175395332010-02-19T11:09:34.217+00:002010-02-19T11:09:34.217+00:00Hallo,

My 13th gt grandfather Richard Lussher worked under William Comberford in the Duchy of Lancaster and later was appointed auditor to Henry VII for Wales. In later years the Lussher coat of arms had the name Comberford in one of the "quarters" (it was actually divided into six parts). He was the son of Bridget Comerford and Michael Tobin, was baptised on April 29, 1848 by Fr. P. Power in the Ballyneale parish. One sponsor was John Comerford. I'm not familiar with this area, since the rest of my family is from the Cashel & Emly diocese. The family names Edward, Michael and Nicholas were common to all families in Ireland at this time, so please don't think of them as uniquely Comerford names.
